The Santa Clara Youth Soccer League (SCYSL) is a boys and girls youth soccer league based in Santa Clara, California. SCYSL is focused on providing a fun and challenging enviornment for children to play recreational and competitive soccer. Santa Clara teams have won National Championship titles, Regional Championship titles and State Championship titles. Programs are provided for all levels of play from recreational to the highest competitive divisions. Age groups are available for players from 4 to 18 years old. The Santa Clara Youth Soccer League is a member of the US Youth Soccer (USYS) participating in USYS Region IV, California Youth Soccer Association (CYSA-N) and District II.
Recreational Program - Fall and Spring Soccer
Fall Season - there are no tryouts – all players who register are welcome and will be placed on a team. Practices begin in late August and the ten game season runs from the beginning of September throught mid-November with Saturday games played on local fields. Tournament play is available for some age groups. See the age group chart for age group definitions.
Spring Season - there are no tryouts - all players register and train once a week, then participate in small sided games on the weekend. The format is designed to focus on player development with more skill games and small sided games to increase a player's touch on the ball and soccer tactics.
Competitive League Soccer - Santa Clara Lions FC & Santa Clara Sporting
The Santa Clara Lions and Santa Clara Sporting programs offer various levels of play available boys and girls from Under-8 through Under-18. Players must sign up for and participate in annual Placement Sessions (tryouts) in late Fall and early Spring. Player selection and team formation occur after the Placement Sessions and prior to the beginning of each season. League play takes place in Spring (April-May) and Fall (July-Nov) seasons. Travel, cost, and time commitment vary by team level and age group.
