6 Sporting Teams Crowned Cal-North State Cup Champs

Six Santa Clara Sporting Teams were crowned 2013-14 Cal-North State Cup Champions this year! Five Santa Clara Sporting Teams in the U14-U18 age groups traveled to Modesto last weekend to compete in the 2013-14 Cal-North State Cup Finals and all five teams won their championship games. The Sporting '99 Boys Green, '98 Boys Green Team and '97 Girls White Team all won their second consecutive State Cup titles, and the '95 Boys Green shattered the record books winning their sixth consecutive State Cup Championship! All the U14-U18 teams qualify to compete in the Far West Regional Tournament (Region IV) from June 16-24th in New Mexico. The Santa Clara Sporting 03b White Team (U10) won their first Cal-North State Cup title earlier this Spring.

The Santa Clara Sporting '03 boys White Team won the U10 boys 2013-14 Cal-North State Cup Championship. They won the U10 Championship with a 5-1 win over the Almaden Rock AR Inter Milan Team. The boys went undefeated in five games and outscored their opponents scoring 20 goals while only allowing 7 into their net.

 

The Santa Clara Sporting '99 boys Green Team are  U14 boys 2013-14 Cal-North State Cup Champions. The '99s won their second consecutive State Cup Championship with a thrilling 2-1 victory over the San Jose Earthquakes Academy Team. They went undefeated during their State Cup run and scored 10 goals and only allowed 1 goal in the final match. The team is ranked #3 in NorCal and #8 in Region IV by GotSoccer.com
 
 
The Santa Clara Sporting '99 girls Green Team are U14 girls are 2013-14 Cal-North State Cup Champions. The '99s won their first State Cup Championship with a big 3-1 victory over the California Northstars Team. They went undefeated during their State Cup run and scored 13 goals and only allowed 2 goals during the entire tournament. The team is ranked #2 in NorCal and #12 in Region IV by GotSoccer.com
 
The Santa Clara Sporting '98 boys Green Team are U15 boys are 2013-14 Cal-North State Cup Champions. The '98s won their second consecutive State Cup Championship with a big 2-1 victory over the Real Salinas Team in a penalty kick shoot-out. They went undefeated during their State Cup run and scored 8 goals and only allowed 3 goals during the entire tournament. The team just returned last month from competition at the Dallas Cup Tournament.
 
The Santa Clara Sporting 97 Girls White Team won the U16 girls Cal-North State Cup Championship with a 3-0 win over the Lamorinda United 97 Navy team. The team went undefeated during their State Cup run scoring 10 goals and only allowing 3 goals into their net. The team is currently ranked #1 in NorCal, #4 in Region IV and #6 in the US by GotSoccer.com
 
The Santa Clara Sporting '95 Boys Green Team won the U18 boys Cal-North State Cup Championship with a 16-1 demolition of the Heritage FC Manchester Team and continue to write the final chapters in their long history of soccer domination. This was the teams' "six-peat" State Cup title having won every year from U13-U18; an incredible accomplishment added to their 2013 Region IV Championship, College Surf Cup title, and countless victories.  Coach Demitri Cacoyannis recruited nearly all their players into DI-DIII NCAA collegiate soccer programs, and the team will finish thier club careers competing at the Far West Regionals in New Mexico and the US National Championships in Maryland. They are ranked #1 in the US, #1 in Region IV and #1 in NorCal by Gotsoccer.com
