Santa Clara Youth Soccer finished the 2010 Top Soccer Season with their annual End-of-the-Year soccer game and Party on Friday night, November 19th at the Santa Clara Youth Soccer Park. About 40-50 players, siblings, volunteers and parents braved the chilly weather, but enjoyed the one hour game and pizza party. Many thanks to Tricia Biocini who runs the SCYSL Top Soccer Program along with volunteers from our league. More photos are on our Flickr Gallery
TOP Soccer is organized and coached by volunteers in our league and the surrounding community. The TOP Soccer Division provides an opportunity for children with disabilities to get outside and exercise in a fun competitive environment.
TOP Soccer began in our league when Emily Boccignone asked her Mom if she could play soccer like her sister and brother. Between Noelle and Blaine Boccignone, Charlie and Jen Webster and myself the program was up and running in August of 2007. We are able to offer reduced fees to the players because Score donates uniforms each season to the TOP Soccer program.
It has been an enjoyable experience for both the players and their families. The players come to the field to see their friends, have a good time and they get exercise at the same time. Our local junior high school and high school students also have fun helping out with TOP Soccer. They are the children’s Buddies for the season and are able to give them the one on one attention they need out on the field.
