Referee Clinic Feb. 20th with FIFA & MLS Referees
On February 20th from 1:30-4:00 pm SCYSL will be hosting an an all referee field clinic, “How & When To Break With Play.” This clinic is somewhat different in orientation from many of the clinics that have been previously offered, in that it is oriented more toward AR mechanics and thought processes. We are expecting that this will be an enjoyable experience and a chance to learn from some very well-qualified referees.
FIFA Referee Veronica Perez and National Referee Colin Arblaster have graciously agreed to be presenters at this clinic, and this will give us a rare opportunity to learn from and talk with an MLS & a FIFA referee. Ron Marfil, Referee Instructor, Assessor and District 2 Mentor Program Coordinator has also graciously agreed to be a presenter at this clinic.
Location will be in Santa Clara -- specific location TBA with a 130 pm start. After an initial teaching/demonstration session led by Colin and Veronica (covering AR signaling, positioning, movement, communication) we’ll break into three (3) groups for actual ‘run throughs’ of situations involving AR’s – “How & When To Break With Play.”
- The ball being sent forward
- AR keeping even with 2nd to last defender
- Knowing when/how to break - & then,
- Following ball toward the goal
