If you have a child that is playing soccer in our U5-U8 age groups, SCYSL is now offering free training on Fridays from 5-6:30pm at Curtis Field for players who think that they will want to play competitive soccer when they are U9 (or U8 spring). This training will be provided by coaches that currently coach competitive teams in Santa Clara Sporting. This training will be more intensive and instructive than a normal recreational training. The players will be expected to pay attention and concentrate on soccer. Soccer players will compete against other competitive players in practices that are more focused on competitive-level skill development against other kids in the same age group. These trainings will improve all players through friendly competition while receiving instruction from competitive soccer coaches.
The SCYSL Pre- Comp Program is designed for players looking for advanced training and an opportunity to experience a competitive environment.
Players will go through structured and dynamic drills that will test a players technical skills with the ball. They will focus on training the key skills of dribbling, passing, shooting, control, and skills as an individual and then in a small team environment. This is a great opportunity for players looking to get an experience or prepare to play on a competitive team next season or the one after.
How to Identify if Your Child Should Attend?
If your child is bored from the lack of challege in his/her Recreational soccer game, or if your coach is holding your child back from scoring too many goals, or your child desires to play in a more challenging game, then you should bring them to these training sessions.
If you aren't sure if you want your child to play competitive soccer in the future, this is a great way to get a free look at the next level of youth soccer; to experience competitive soccer and see how your child responds in a more competitive enviornment and to the next level of coaching.
