Updated District II Coaching License Policy

CYSA F & E Coaching Courses Offered in June

SCYSL is hosting two coaching classes in June. To reserve a spot in class, please email Manny Adame/SCYSL Coaching Director to reserve a spot, then send a check for $35 payable to SCYSL - mail to 340 LaHerran Drive Santa Clara CA 95051 to confirm your reservation. If your check is not received your seat in the class will be given to another coach.

If you require a license above an "E" you will need to take the course outside of Santa Clara. You are also welcome to take the "F" and "E" courses with another league if the confirmed dates in Santa Clara don't work for you. You can find more coaching classes at the District 2 website. Some professional or ex-professional players are asking if they can automatically be granted a higher coaching license and skip the entry level courses, this is being not a CYSA policy. You may now take as many courses within the same year as you want. You may take your F,E,E/D,D all in the same year but must successfully pass one before you can attend the next. - posted 6/11/09

SCYSL Needs Teams for Referee Scrimmage Games 7/26 & 7/31 at Soccer Park

Our SCYSL Referees are hosting a Grade 8 Course in July at the Santa Clara Youth Soccer Park, and part of the class will require the trainees to participate in realistic game situations.  Bob Sherman/SCYSL Referee Coordinator will host two scrimmage games and needs four teams to help out. He is really hoping to get some of the younger teams (say, U9-U12) to participate so that the speed of the game would not be too difficult for our younger students.

Please email Bob at refs@scyouthsoccer.org if you can bring your team and help.-posted 5/19/08

SCYSL Adopts New Format For Entry Level/Grade 8 Referee Training: July ‘08 - Download Flyer

Referees (and potential referees), please read this carefully and spread the word: entry level training in SCYSL has changed, beginning with the July ‘08 Licensing Class.

Here's what will be different: In addition to the 6 classes that are set aside for USSF Instructor Presentations of the Laws of the Game, three additional two-hour sessions are being added (one field clinic and two scrimmage games in which to officiate — with the coaching support of our seasoned Mentors) –with attendance Mandatory for students wishing to officiate games in the SCYSL.

Students who do not intend to officiate with us do not have to attend the three (3) additional sessions. Attendance will be taken at all sessions and the new policy will be strictly enforced. Please direct all inquiries to Bob Sherman, SCYSL Referee Coordinator at soccergeezer@gmail.com

Due to this enhanced entry level training, we expect the class to fill up quickly, so please advise anyone who you think is interested to contact Bob Sherman ASAP, as we will open Class Registration to other soccer leagues in approximately 3 weeks. We encourage Moms & Dads, brothers and sisters, sons and daughters to become USSF Referees in the SCYSL. The goal of our new training format is to send new referees to their first league games as JOB READY as possible.

All classes and field clinics will be held at the Santa Clara Youth Soccer Park

Griffin Soccer and SCYSL have teamed-up to provide a Spring Soccer Camp to SCYSL players from April 14th-18th at the Santa Clara Youth Soccer Park. Download the flier for all the details. - posed 2/28/08
