CCSL Red-Card Procedure

What to Do if My Coach or Player Received a Red Card Send-off

New CCSL Procedure Updated 9/9/10

What Happens When my Player or Coach is Sent Off?
The Center Referee is responsible to fill-out a report and submit to CYSA along with the player or coach pass.

How do I Get My Player or Coach Pass Back?
If you or your player receives a Send-Off, you will need to print this SCYSL Red-Card Report Form and bring
to your games to document that your coach/player is serving his/her red card. Have the referee sign the report, and also write a note on the game card that your coach/player is serving his/her red card during that game. If your coach/player is serving a multiple game suspension, use the same report to document the same coach/player. Once the Send-Off report and player card is received by the CCSL League, they will send the report and player card back to Tino Silva/SCYSL League President. Once he has receievd documentation that your coach/player served the suspension, he will return the CYSA card to your team.

How Can I Find-out the  Status of the Suspension?
The CCSL league has a new webpage to review the status of the suspension.

What to do if you want to Appeal?
CYSA 4:05:01 The Disciplinary Committee shall act on all disciplinary matters and shall have discretionary powers in determining disciplinary action applied to team personnel and players. Game suspensions listed below are to be regarded as minimums for the charged offenses, depending on the findings of the Disciplinary Committee. Penalties may be increased according to the gravity of the infringements, and the reasons for such increases in penalties shall be documented on the Send-Off Report or on an accompanying document by the Disciplinary Committee. Only penalties above the recommended CYSA minimums may be appealed.

PIM 08-3 PROTESTS, APPEALS AND DISCIPLINE
PLAYER/TEAM OFFICIAL DISCIPLINE (SUSPENSION)
A player/team official serving a term of suspension for disciplinary reasons will serve that suspension in the next regularly scheduled CYSA or US Youth Soccer competition(s), i.e. League, Cup, Tournament. This does not include friendly games or scrimmages. Any disciplinary action will carry over from seasonal year to seasonal year.

When a player/team official is sent off in a game outside his/her home League or District jurisdiction, the player/team official pass and referee report shall be forwarded within 48 hours to their home League or District Commissioner as appropriate.

Unless specifically stated otherwise at the time a suspension is imposed, the suspension of a team official, applies to participation in any CYSA sanctioned activity during the period of suspension and, like the suspension of a player, must be served with the team with which the suspension was incurred. If for any reason the suspended team official cannot serve all of the suspension with the team with which the suspension was incurred, the part of the suspension not served must be served with another CYSA team of which the suspended person is a registered team official. Suspensions carry over from seasonal year to seasonal year. All of the suspension must be served.

  • Example 1: X is a team official of both the red team and the blue team. X receives a 3 game suspension for a send off in a red team game. X may only serve the suspension of three games with the red team. X also may not participate in blue team games until X has served all of the 3 game suspension with the red team.
  • Example 2: X is a team official of the red team, the blue team, and the green team. X receives a 3 game suspension for a send off in a red team. After X has served 1 game of the suspension, the red team disbands. X must serve all of the remaining two game suspension with either the blue team or green team, but not both. X also may not participate in blue or green team games until the remaining 2 games of the suspension are served.
  • Example 3: X is a team official of the red team. X receives a 3 game suspension for a send off in red team’s last game of the season. The next season X is a team official with the green team. X is suspended for the first 3 green team games.
