The Santa Clara Youth Soccer League is a member of the US Youth Soccer (USYS) participating in USYS Region IV, California Youth Soccer Association (CYSA-N) and District II. The league offers four levels of soccer: Class 4 Recreational soccer, Class 3 Comp Soccer, Class 1 Select Soccer, and TOP Soccer provides a youth soccer experience for children with special needs.

Every season, we highlight the importance of education within our soccer community, and celebrate the success of our student athletes off the field through the SCYSL Scholar Athlete Award. Improving one’s soccer game is fun and rewarding, but of more importance is the need to have a strong academic foundation. Our league

On February 20th from 1:30-4:00 pm SCYSL will be hosting an an all referee field clinic, “How & When To Break With Play.” This clinic is somewhat different in orientation from many of the clinics that have been previously offered, in that it is oriented more toward AR mechanics and thought processes. We are expecting that this will be an enjoyable experience and a chance to learn from some very well-qualified referees.

Six SCYSL Referees received 2009 Referee of the Year Awards from the SJSRA on December 1, 2009. Awardees include: Jorge Valverde, Elizabeth Zigon, Carlos Hernandez, Angelica Morales-Barajas, Jackie Algas-Sasaki and John Antonicic. The awardees were presented plaques and had the opportunity to meet National Referees Philippe Dor and Peter Fletcher and FIFA referee Jennifer Bennett. Congratulations to all the SCYSL Referees!

Not heavy rain, nor muddy field conditions could stop the Santa Clara Elite U12 Girls Team from taking the field on December 12th and 13th to compete in the CYSA Founders’ Cup.  Santa Clara Elite, led by coaches Ernie DeFrenchi and John Teixeira went undefeated during their regular season and was the only Santa Clara Youth Soccer League Team present at Founders’ Cup.  The SC Elite Team finished third in their preliminary round.
